SINA-KRT Partnership in Health
As the number of IDPs in KRT camps increased rapidly in August, the need for prompt,cost-effective and quality health became universal. KRT decided to enter into a strategic partnership with the Indus Hospital and SINA Trust to meet this need.
SINA Trust has been involved in providing quality primary care in the katchi abadis of Karachi and in Sujawal since 2007.This placed SINA in a unique position to take over the medical services at the KRT camps.
Since the first camp was established in Morro in August, medical camps are now working in several districts, providing medical care to more than 2,000 families.
Indus hospital has been our source of resource mobilization. They have set up their inflatable hospital in Sukkur and are providing immediate care to the patients. Indus Hospital caters to all emergency cases that require surgery or immediate care. KRT Camp affectees have also been seen by OB/GYN and have reported more than 50 new births at various camps thus far.
KRT has also teamed up with Aman Foundation that has provided 3 Ambulances for the flood affected areas of Upper Sindh. Their paramedics are also on board the ambulances to provide emergency aid/relief.
At this time all help related to medical care of the IDPs is welcome. We need volunteers, medicines as well as donations. Final year students are also welcomed to assist us at our medical camps. Sign up a s a medical volunteer on our home page.
